The discovery of quantum physics in Copenhagen
during the years 1913 to 1927 marks a revolution in contemporary science's knowledge of
physical nature. Likewise C.G. Jung's formulation of Analytical Psychology, established
independently in Zürich at the same time, initiates a comparable revolution in our understanding
of human nature. Shortly after these two innovative paradigms were completed, Jung and Wolfgang
Pauli, one of the new physics' founders, began a life-long dialogue and friendship. Throughout
their lives the men discussed the parallels between the upheaval in modern physics and the
challenge Jung's depth psychology poses to our Western vision of life.
This lecture will survey the resonant journeys of these
pioneers, explore similarities in their creative discoveries and consider their shared message
to the 21st century: the living spirit in matter.

Jung deepened
and extended Analytical Psychology's basic concepts in light of his emerging synchronicity
hypothesis. In this workshop we will explore the evolution of Jung's discovery into its
final form, focusing on the reality of spirit in matter. Atomic physicist Wolfgang Pauli's
important contribution to Jung's expanding perspective will also be considered as we seek
a fuller appreciation of synchronicity in everyday life. Finally the workshop will examine
a range of synchronistic experiences from the analytic practice, encouraging participants
to try their hand at developing a practical, working recognition of the living relation
between spirit and matter.
