Yin Yang Jung

Presented via Zoom by David Eisner and Barbara Shocket.

Carl Jung’s life work stays close to the principle of applying practical wisdom to the problems of everyday life.  In his research on the relationship between Depth Psychology and Mythology of Ancient and Modern Cultures, Jung postulates that every manifestation of Psyche implies the existence of its opposite.  And–within the complexities of the heart-mind, these opposites mutually influence, if not delineate, one another.  An example is in the symbol-concept of Yin Yang, which dualistically fathoms the immensity of the non-dual universe.

In his mythological and meta-psychological research, Jung embraces the synthesis of opposites<–>non-duality.  How do we channel that perspective, in emotionally and spiritually constructive ways, through the arduous paired opposites of day to day life? This question we will explore in a 4 week Zoom class, using as a textual/literary resource the Eknath Easwaran translation of The Upanishads (Nilgiri Press, 2007).  We have selected The Upanishads as our point of departure, because these timeless texts open pathways between individual human psychology and a Cosmic Great Integrity. Participants should bring a copy of the Easwaran translation to the meetings for interactive reading and discussion.

This event is FREE to all, but registration is required.
